LMC Copyright Guidelines for online photos
When searching for photos online the goal is to look for pictures that are copyright free or fall under Creative Commons licensing. Creative Commons has different levels of use, however. In some instances, you are required to cite the website and the photographer. In other cases, the citation does not need to include the photographer. As a general rule, it is best to always cite the website and include the photographer in the citation if known. If no appropriate photo can be found, as a final effort to follow copyright laws you should do an advanced Google image search (see directions)
