As part of its planning process to solve overcrowding, District 41 has established four facilities committees (agendas, minutes and more can be found on this page below). While the committees differ in purpose, all include board members, D41 employees, community members and members of last year’s Facilities Task Force, and all four committees will work over the summer and possibly into the fall. All five schools are overcrowded, and enrollment is projected to continue growing. Last year, the D41 Facilities Task Force recommended the district build a new school and restructure into a K-4, 5-6 and 7-8 program model. Renovations to the existing schools were also recommended. To continue the planning process and provide information and analysis to the Board of Education, the committees roles have been defined as follows: the Finance Committee will develop viable options to finance and operate a new building that maximizes outside revenue and minimizes the impact on taxpayers; the Program Planning Committee will review and articulate a model program and curriculum delivery and outline facility needs to support it; the Architectural and site selection committee will facilitate development of architectural and site plans; and the Communication Committee will plan accurate and timely communication.
